LIVE WORKSHOP: HOW TO DATE LIKE A SECURE PERSON
FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 23, 7pm
You don’t need to be single in order to feel lonely. The sad truth is that, just because you’re in a relationship, doesn’t mean you’re feeling fulfilled or that you’ve “arrived.” Some report feeling an excruciating loneliness or feeling totally unseen, even in long term relationships. So, what gives? How can we make space for truly meaningful, mutually supportive, passionate and nourishing relationships? What’s the path to ending the cycles of starts and stops, ruptures and break-ups, and begin to experience a sense of balance, fulfillment and the capacity to explore in life (and do so in relationship?)
In this workshop, you’ll learn an attachment theory perspective on why your dating life has been so hard, and how to date like a secure person (even if you’re not secure yourself!)
Intensives
MEDITATION x ATTACHMENT™
Relational mindfulness for love and work.
MEditation x attachment LEVEL ONE
Open to all students, the first level of Mettagroup’s signature Meditation x Attachment course offers instruction in Buddhist theory, Attachment Theory, and in-depth meditation techniques. It focuses on developing secure relationships, uprooting past attachment conditioning and working through conflict resolution strategies to learn how to be completely yourself in your relationships with others and with your work. In other words, this course helps you learn how to live a meaningful life. It draws deeply on John Bowlby’s teachings and Daniel P. Brown's Ideal Parent-Figure (IPF) Attachment Protocol. The format for this course is a series of four half-day intensives held virtually. It is best experienced by attending all sessions live, however students are welcome to keep up via class recordings as well.
NEXT COHORT BEGINS APRIL 6th
MEDITATION x ATTACHMENT LEVEL TWO
Meditation x Attachment Level 2 marks the stage in your attachment journey where students put theory into action to truly make lasting change in their lives. In other words, this is where the rubber meets the road. This is achieved by fully enacting and integrating our three-pillar approach into your daily life. Level Two is open to students who have completed Level One as well as students have taken any previous iterations of our intensive courses or extended retreats, and includes 6 one-on-one IPF sessions (or 12 one-on-one meditation mentoring sessions) with founding teacher George Haas and offers a more in-depth exploration of the connections between attachment and regular meditation practice to shift your existing relationships into secure functioning ones. Classes are held live virtually on the 1st and 3rd Friday of each month from 10:30am - 12:30pm PT (1:30 - 3:30pm ET), and are recorded and archived with video and/or audio files available for students who miss any sessions or wish to review the material again.
NEXT COHORT BEGINS JANUARY 19, 2024
MEDITATION x ADDICTION™
Meditation based healing for substance and process-related addictions.
The techniques and strategies covered in Meditation x Addiction™ are specifically designed to support healing for people dealing with addiction and addiction-related issues. As evidenced by George Haas's own personal path, mindfulness meditation-based skills training can offer a truly effective behavioral change in the realm of addiction. Offered as three half-day intensives across three consecutive weeks, this course combines traditional meditation approaches, the relapse pattern theories from the work of G. Alan Marlatt, Phd., and John Bowlby’s Attachment Theory. Students learn a simple, easy-to-learn, and very pragmatic approach to addressing addiction, and many move on Meditation x Attachment™ Level Two after stabilizing in their recovery to continue to deepen their practice and maintain healthy lifestyle choices.

METTA VIPASSANA RESIDENTIAL RETREAT
“We shall not cease from exploration and the end of all our exploring will be to arrive where we started and know the place for the first time.” - T.S. Eliot
Mettagroup’s signature Metta Vipassana retreat is back! With a stable mind and open heart as a foundation, we will explore aspects of relational mindfulness: how you connect to others, and how you can be completely yourself in relationships and work; in other words, how to live a meaningful life. Each day will include Dharma teachings with meditation instructions, as well as some longer, uninterrupted sits, and daily mindful yoga sessions. This retreat is open to beginners and ongoing practitioners, and is encouraged for anyone seeking to deepen their meditation practice and bring greater insight into their daily life.
The first week (May 11-18) will focus on metta practice, and the second week (May 18-25) will focus on vipassana practice. There will only be five spots open to the Mettagroup community, so priority will be given to those who wish to attend both weeks, however participants may apply to attend one week only.

IDEAL PARENT FIGURE PROTOCOL (IPF) FACILITATION
Developed by Dr. Daniel P. Brown, PhD, the Ideal Parent Figure Protocol (IPF) is a unique approach to attachment repair that combines the most cutting edge psychology with ancient meditation techniques. Mettagroup founder George Haas trained directly with the late Dr. Brown, and over the past few years many of the underlying concepts have been incorporated into Mettagroup’s teachings. Although spots are limited, George does offer one-on-one IPF facilitation sessions. Get in touch to inquire about availability, or book an introductory session via the link below.
Looking for other resources? Check out our IPF Facilitator Directory.
Adult Attachment Interviews (AAI)
Created by Dr. Mary Main, Adult Attachment Interviews are scored assessments that take a snapshot of your current attachment representation. Because different attachment strategies require different responses, it's important to know your attachment presentation. Anybody who is interested in attachment repair needs an assessment of their strategy. Get in touch to see about conducting an AAI with a Mettagroup mentor (limited spots available
MEDITATION x ATTachment MASTERCLASS
Developed with Dr. Daniel P. Brown, PhD, Mettagroup continues to offer a monthly masterclass work group based on his definitive work, Attachment Disturbances in Adults: Treatment for Comprehensive Repair. Described by Psychology Today as a "major breakthrough in treatment," the journal also said: "It should be required reading by every mental health clinician and provider as a basis of treatment. If it were, there would be more positive treatment results for a wide variety of mental health issues."
Developed to assess and address attachment disturbances in a totally unique and effective way, we offer these IPF trainings for professionals including licensed therapists and psychiatrists who want to incorporate this approach into their own work with patients. This marks a major development in George Haas's own lifelong work connecting secular Buddhist meditation and modern attachment theory.
Meditation Mentoring
This one-on-one mentoring relationship has proven very popular with students interested in truly deepening their meditation practice. The process starts with weekly Skype sessions to establish a vocabulary for dialogue with your mentor and to develop a strategy for your meditation, and then after that we can adjust the plan accordingly. Some people prefer weekly contact, some only twice a month. Some people prefer to move to telephone-based appointments, while others prefer not to set appointments but to schedule sessions when they need them. Having the flexibility to IM, email or text to get an answer to a quick question or to schedule an impromptu Skype session when something comes up that cannot wait is what this system is designed for. The idea is to support your practice in the way you need.
Mentoring for BUSINESS PARTNERS OR ROMANTIC PARTNERS
While many forms of couples counseling end up negotiating the failure of late-state relationships, Mettagroup's meditation-based mentoring is focused on building a secure foundation early in a relationship (rather than trying to repair it later). Mettagroup mentors were trained and certified by Dr. Stan Tatkin's PACT Institute.
